General Summary

Provide general support to the Mathematics and Statistics Department. Working under the supervision of faculty and/or staff, carry out duties as assigned. This may include tutoring in the Mathematics Tutoring and Testing Center, grading, or other duties supporting the mission of Eastern Michigan University.

The Teaching Graduate Assistant receives a stipend and a tax-exempt tuition waiver.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for tutoring, working with students on learning strategies, grading, or other activities supporting students and faculty in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics.

Qualifications

General Requirements:
• Ability to work up to 20 hours per week (10 for 50%) is required.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher is required.
• Admission and enrollment in a graduate program is required.
• Maintenance of a 67% course completion is required.
• Enrollment in at least 6 credits for Fall and Winter semesters is required.

Area-Specific Requirements:
• A Bachelor's Degree is required.
• Admission to either the M.A./M.S. in Mathematics or the M.A./M.S. in Applied Statistics is required.
• Tutoring experience is helpful.
