The Department of Management Information Systems within the College of Business at East Carolina University has a full time, tenure track position available beginning August 2020.

The Department of MIS within the College of Business at ECU has approximately 102 undergraduate majors and 23 faculty members and offers courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The College of Business holds AACSB accreditation.

The department seeks to attract a culturally and academically diverse faculty of the highest caliber skilled in the scholarship of research, teaching and application of knowledge. The department strongly encourages applicants of women, minorities and historically underrepresented groups.

Job Duties

Candidate will teach some combination of undergraduate and graduate courses in Business Analytics but should be qualified to teach other MIS courses such as database, programming, systems analysis or networking. Online teaching is probable. Candidates will perform scholarly research leading to publications in the area(s) of specialization as required for tenure, be expected to provide service to the university, community and profession, and other typical services/duties as assigned by the department chair. Excellence in teaching is expected. Appointment is at the rank of Assistant Professor with competitive salary and research support.

Minimum Education/Experience

Appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor requires a PhD with a concentration in Management Information Systems or related discipline (including but not limited to Data Science or Information Science) from an appropriately accredited institution that satisfies credentialing under SACS guidelines. Candidates with PhD conferred at the time of initial appointment will hold the probationary rank of Assistant Professor. ABD candidates will also be initially appointed with the probationary term rank of Assistant Professor and must have the terminal degree conferred prior to their first reappointment.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

Business/Data Analytics expertise strongly preferred. Candidates with PhD conferred at the time of initial appointment preferred.
