Job Description

Department of Accounting and Finance is seeking a postdoctoral research associate to conduct empirical, policy-relevant business research. The research associate will work in collaboration with department faculty to generate high-quality business research leading to publication in top journals. The research associate will primarily support and advance a number of research projects from conceptualization through publication, formulate research methods and suggest options for improving quality, identify potential problems, recommend and implement solutions, and collaborate in the development of new techniques. Specific contributions will include econometric modeling, statistical programming, analysis of data, generating graphs and figures and presentations, writing reports. The research associate will have some teaching responsibilities but no service/administrative duties.

Required Qualifications:
•    Ph.D. in Economics or related field. ABD will be considered only if degree completion is expected before August 2019. 
•    Strong potential for excellence and commitment to research that result in peer-reviewed publications. 
•    Strong analytical, research, statistical, and quantitative skills; excellent data management and strong programming ability.
Preferred Qualifications:
•    Preferred field: Financial Economics, Applied Econometrics (Time series and cross-section).
•    Advanced Statistical and programming skills (Knowledge of Stata, R).
•    Managing, processing, and analyzing large datasets.
•    Strong quantitative and economic modeling skills.
•    Excellent writing and communication skills.

This is a two-year, research-oriented position. The contract for the second year will be contingent upon the performance evaluation of the first year. Salary for the position is $50,000 per year. The position is fully funded by the university and comes with a full benefits package as an employee of Texas A&M University-San Antonio.
