Job Description:



SUNY Empire State College seeks a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Information Technology for its newly approved online Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT) program. This is a unique opportunity for a highly motivated candidate interested in growing a new degree program in the high demand field of Information Technology that can have a worldwide reach. The successful candidate will serve as the inaugural coordinator of the MSIT program. The incumbent will work with faculty from across the college to develop and teach online courses in the areas such as information security, networking, web design, enterprise systems architecture, mobile systems development, and IT emerging technology. The role will also advise students; engage in collaborative research related to information technology; provide service to the division, school, and college; and work with college-wide offices to forge successful partnerships with other colleges and industry. While the appointment will primarily be in the School for Graduate Studies, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to information technology courses and programs across the college.



Requirements:



Required Qualifications:


  • An earned doctorate in Information Technology or related field from a regionally accredited US university or comparable non-US university (ABD considered)
  • College-level teaching experience
  • Ability to develop and teach courses in several areas of study such as information systems, information security, and networking theory and practice
  • A research agenda in information technology and/or other relevant areas in the field
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • The desire and skills to engage with a diverse student body


Preferred Qualifications:


  • IT experience along with industry certifications such as CISSP
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in online and blended teaching formats
  • Experience coordinating academic programs
  • Experience in graduate teaching
  • Proficiency in working with external partners for course development, internship development, marketing, cohort development, and other related purposes
  • A history of scholarly productivity


Special Information:


  • The location is open to any of Empire State College's major locations across New York State (Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Capital Region, Hudson Valley, New York City, or Long Island).
  • Office hours (primarily online) will vary to accommodate student needs.
  • Some travel and overnights required.
