Scope of Job:
To provide support for clinical applications and clinical education systems including, but not limited to responding to incidents and service requests pertaining to, conferencing systems, computer software and hardware issues. Provide technical support on compliance software as well as clinical software such as Athenahealth and Complytrack, among others.

Description of Duties:
• Provides support for clinical applications and clinical education systems including end users computing resources.
• Communicates with end users, assisting employees with technical troubleshooting, documenting issues, troubleshooting various applications, following standard support procedures, and determining and documenting resolutions.
• Works closely with clinical IT staff to understand the short and long-term plans, elicit requirements, works with others to identify and implement technology solutions to support plans.
• Assists users with the use of computers and conferencing systems, and provides solutions in resolving technical issues.
• Provides support for instructional systems including computer installation, maintenance, and repairs.
• Assists in performing the analysis, development, and testing of systems and procedures and makes recommendations as necessary.
• Responds to service calls, either on-site, off-site, or by telephone, in technical issues.
• Provides proactive response to or escalate the resolution of the electronic medical record applications issues.
• Maintains understanding and support of the electronic medical system as well as keeping abreast with developing technology and its relationship to other information systems, both internal and external to the clinics.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervision Received:
General supervision from assigned supervisor.

Supervision Given:
Direct supervision of assigned staff.

Required Education:
Associate’s degree in a related field from an accredited university.

Preferred Education:
None.

Licenses/Certifications:
None.

Required Experience:
Two (2) years’ experience relating to computer hardware/software. Related experience may be substituted for education on a one to one basis.

Preferred Experience:
None.

Equipment:
Use of standard office equipment.

Working Conditions:
Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office Environment; some travel and weekend work is required. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

Other:
Exceptional planning and organizational skills.

A New University with a Long History

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley was created by the Texas Legislature in 2013 in a historic move that brings together the resources and assets of UT Brownsville and UT Pan American and, for the first time, makes it possible for residents of the Rio Grande Valley to benefit from the Permanent University Fund—a public endowment contributing support to the University of Texas System and the Texas A&M University System.

 

Our new university will also be home to a School of Medicine and will transform Texas and the nation by becoming a leader in student success, teaching, research, and health care. UTRGV will enroll its first class in the fall of 2015, and the School of Medicine will open in 2016.

 

UT Brownsville and UT Pan American

The shared history of The University of Texas Pan American and The University of Texas at Brownsville goes back to 1927, when Edinburg College was founded. In 1973, Pan American opened a second campus in Brownsville, which later became an independent institution of The University of Texas System in 1991. Over the years, the missions and the identities of these great institutions have continually evolved to serve the communities of the Rio Grande Valley.

Now, the evolution and connection between these two institutions is coming full circle as UT Brownsville and UT Pan American are being established as a single, new university and medical school, with a single, new identity—The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
