POSITION TITLE: New Student Orientation Leader
DEPARTMENT: First Year Experience
REPORTS TO: Coordinator of First Year Experience
POSITION SUMMARY: The Student Leader position assists with New Student Orientation sessions and other FYE department events and activities.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assist FYE Staff in NSO sessions, Group Advising, and other events sponsored by the department.
2. Provide support for new students in the advising and registration lab during NSO sessions.
3. Greet students and supporters at the New Student Orientation area and guide them to appropriate NSO locations
4. Assist in setup of NSO including preparing information packets for NSO sessions, room set-up and signage
5. Assist FYE Staff with making copies, packets, signs, updating events calendar, etc.
6. Perform related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. Familiarity with the JJC campus and technology, includes the JJC website, e-resources, portal, email, keyboarding skills and other technology functions
3. Must have completed one semester of college-level courses while maintaining a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
4. Be in the first year of college or have at least two semesters remaining at JJC
5. Ability to work at both Main and Romeoville Campuses
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Effective communication skills with staff and students.
2. Ability to work with minimum supervision and maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA Guidelines
3. Patience, problem solving abilities, and a willingness to accept responsibility.
4. Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite and other office technologies.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• Normal office physical demands.
WORK SCHEDULE
6-12 hrs per week including some evening hours (minimum of 3 hr shifts). More hours available during college registration periods.

The website and booklet contain information regarding campus security and personal safety such as crime prevention and reporting, police law enforcement authority, disciplinary procedures and other related security policies. They also contain information about crime statistics for the three previous years for all JJC campuses, property owned and controlled by JJC District 525 and on public property immediately adjacent to JJC campuses.
This information is required by law and is made available by the Joliet Junior College Police Department.
