Job Summary/Basic Function:
The assistant professor position will principally serve the undergraduate Visual Art Studies (VART) major and collaborate with the College of Visual Art & Design's (CVAD) Onstead Institute for Education in the Visual Arts and Design on community engagement, professional development, and curriculum development projects. Teaching within the VART major, advising students through the major, as well as a K-12 research focus are key components of the position. In addition, acting as departmental liaison with the College of Education; representing the program in regional and state art education organizations; and ongoing student recruitment are all duties associated with the position. Additional supervision of masters and doctoral candidates as well as service to the college, university, and the field of art education are expected.

Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. or Ed.D. in art education or closely related field by time of appointment, full time K-12 art teaching, valid U.S. teaching certificate, demonstrable research interest in K-12 art education or preservice art teacher education, experience in curriculum development and community engagement.
Preferred Qualifications:
University teaching as instructor of record at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, familiarity with edTPA performance-based assessment processes, record of excellence in teaching, and experience in art teacher education program coordination.
