PRINCETON UNIVERSITY, Department of Religion, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the religions of Japan. The position would begin on September 1, 2019. The candidate's area of expertise is open but we especially welcome candidates whose areas of expertise complement those of continuing faculty in the subfield of Asian religions. Historical period, particular tradition(s) of focus, and methodological approach within the humanities and social sciences are open to consideration. Princeton supports a wide range of vibrant interdisciplinary programs, including programs in East Asian Studies, Gender and Sexuality Studies, Human Values, International and Regional Studies, and South Asian Studies, and we welcome applicants who might contribute to any of these programs. Ph.D. required at time of application or expected before start of appointment. The search committee will begin reviewing applications November 1, 2018, and will continue to do so until the position is filled. Princeton is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute through their research, teaching, and/or service to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.
