Student Employee - Orientation, Advising, Career Services

The primary purpose of student employment is to provide current LCC students with the opportunity to acquire job skills and experiences during semesters while actively attending classes at LCC.

Our student employees work as ambassadors for the college through campus tours, new student orientation program (Orientation), assisting students at our front desk and special events.

Through your employment with the Center for Academic & Career Pathways (CACP) you will gain valuable experience in leadership, teamwork, general office work, customer service and public speaking.

Primary Job Duties:

Lead campus tours for Orientation, campus visits, and other eventsCover Advising front desk duties, which include:

-Warmly greet and acknowledge visitors upon entering and leaving
-Check-in/out students
-Answer phones
-Schedule appointments through phone and face-to-face
-Assist students with Career & Employment Services (CES) website and applying to jobs
-Ensure that the front office and reception area is clean, organized and presentable
-Provide general information to students regarding advising, LCC admissions processes, CES information and other general information regarding the college

Participate in student follow-up via mail, phone, email, social media and chatWork independently and cooperatively in a team-centered environment, performing a variety of duties and balancing multiple priorities on a continuing basisPerform other back-office duties including photocopying materials, organizing work areas, filing paperwork, answering phones and routing to the appropriate department, and other duties assigned

NOTE: these position(s) are filled on an as needed basis; students in this applicant pool are reviewed whenever the department has an immediate need to fill a vacancy.

Education and Experience

The following requirements apply each semester, in order to maintain eligibility and continue working as a student employee:

- Enrolled & actively attending is required to maintain employment eligibility (i.e. minimum LCC credit hours by semester):

Fall and/or Spring Semester(s) = 6.0 creditsSummer Semester = 3.0 credits

- International students with an F-1 visa and valid I-20 issued by LCC must meet the following minimum enrollment/credit requirements each semester, in order to maintain employment eligibility per United States Citizenship & Immigration Services (USICS) regulations:

Fall and/or Spring Semester(s) = 12.0 creditsSummer Semester = 3.0 credits

- Minimum 2.0 GPA or have approval to waive requirement unless it is the student’s first semester of enrollment at LCC

- Must be at least 18 years of age and/or a high school graduate who is at least 17 with a valid, signed work permit

Hours per Week: Up to 25 Hours

Hourly Wage: $9.60
