Job Description Summary:
This position is a 100%, 12 month, classified position.

This position is funded by categorical funds and employment is subject to those funds being available.

Under the direction of the Director of Communications, Outreach, and Public Relations the Outreach Coordinator will help plan, organize and coordinate various outreach events and activities to increase public awareness of Ohlone College programs with an effort to increase numbers of students applying for and receiving Federal and State financial aid, contributing to college efforts to increase college enrollment, course and program completion in Career Education programs and across the college.

Outreach activities include, but are not limited to visiting and presenting at local high schools, middle schools, community centers, and public events; tabling at local fairs, schools, and/or on campus to promote the College and specific programs.

Outreach information will focus on promoting college programs, courses, and degree offerings with a focus on emphasizing College financial aid programs and services and providing financial literacy tools to strengthen low-income, disadvantaged student participation in post-secondary education and Career Education opportunities.

The Outreach Coordinator will strategize, craft, and execute content for all social media platforms including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, and LinkedIn.

ABILITY TO:
• Oversee and implement outreach activities and programs that will attract students interested in Ohlone’s various degree/certificate offerings, and career education programs.
• Plan, facilitate, and implement Ohlone College outreach presentations, tabling events, and social media posts to increase awareness and affinity for the institution.
• To answer questions regarding federal financial aid and how it relates to Ohlone College and the California Community College system
• Serve as a technical resource to students, staff, faculty and outside agencies regarding outreach planning, scheduling, procedures and requirements.
• Participate in on and off-campus outreach activities.
• Train and provide work direction to student workers.
• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

Essential Duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Plan, organize, and set up various outreach events and activities to increase public awareness as it relates to general information about Ohlone College and targeted information about Career Education.
• Present information about Ohlone College using marketing material and various presentations to various target audiences with the goal of increasing student enrollment.
• Work with the Director of Strong Workforce and Career Pathways and appropriate faculty members to plan and execute outreach activities with the goal of increasing student enrollment in targeted Career Education and non-credit career preparation programs.
• Present information about Financial Aid opportunities that prospective students can utilize while encouraging them to apply using the FAFSA.
• Conceptualize, create, and publish daily social media posts that enhances affinity for Ohlone College, shares stories of our community’s successes, builds meaningful connections, and encourages engagement.
• Prepare and maintain a variety of narrative and statistical reports, records and files related to personnel and assigned activities.
• Communicate with other administrators, personnel and outside organizations to coordinate activities and programs all while finding new outreach opportunities.
• Operate a computer and assigned software programs; operate other office equipment as assigned; drive a vehicle to conduct work as assigned.
• Availability to work occasional weekend and evening hours.

Education and Experience:
Any combination equivalent to: Bachelor’s degree with two years of experience working at an institution of higher education.
