Position Summary

This post-doctoral fellow will play an integral role in the collection and analysis of fMRI data for studies examining conditions which impact optimal use of cognitive emotion regulation strategies. In addition to collection and analysis of data, the position will entail writing manuscripts and grant proposals, training and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, and attendance of joint and or individual lab meetings.


Essential Functions

  • Experimental design and task implementation
  • Data collection
  • Data analysis (primarily fMRI, some behavioral and/or physiological)
  • Writing scientific papers and grant proposal
  • Supervising graduate and undergraduate students
  • Attending joint and/or individual lab meetings


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Fluency in English
  • Excellent writing skills and the ability to communicate research findings visually, orally, and in writing
  • Strong statistical skills including experience with statistical analysis of fMRI data
  • Analytical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language
  • Evidence of a presentation and publication record
  • Strong interest in, and familiarity with, the scientific study of emotion regulation

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Psychology, Neuroscience, Cognitive Science or other related field
  • Substantial experience with collection and analysis of fMRI data
  • Experience with collection of questionnaires and experimental tasks administered by computer
  • Fluency in English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using multiple software packages for analyzing fMRI data
  • Experience using multivariate and/or machine learning fMRI analysis techniques
  • Experience with physiological data collection and analysis
  • Experience publishing first-author reports of fMRI data
  • Track record of working collaboratively with advanced graduate students and effectively managing time to advance multiple research projects
  • Experience writing grant applications
  • Interest in component processes, contextual and individual difference favors which impact the cognitive regulation of emotion
