POSITION SUMMARY
The Investigator assists in resolving complaints related to the University’s Policy on Discrimination, Harassment, and Sexual Misconduct. The Investigator will conduct prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations of complaints and grievances filed by students, staff, and faculty and issue a detailed report regarding the findings of such investigations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Investigate alleged policy violations from inception to findings. This includes creating an investigative plan, conducting and memorializing witness interviews, making credibility assessments, preparing and presenting memoranda of findings and appropriate supporting documents, authoring investigation reports that include factual determinations and analysis, and communicating with the parties while protecting the neutrality, integrity, and privacy of the investigation.

2. Provide on-going updates regarding the status of complaints and investigations to the Title IX Coordinator. Working collaboratively with the Title IX Coordinator and Deputy Title IX Coordinators to review and synthesize allegations and to determine applicable interim measures. Effectively collaborate and communicate with key stakeholders and partners.

3. Participate in the development and deployment of an ongoing prevention and awareness campaign including development of written and electronic materials and resources. Create and facilitate training/presentations to students, staff, and faculty regarding the topics of discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct.

4. Continuously identify and integrate best practices for responding to sexual misconduct reports (including trauma informed response) into knowledge base and practice. Stay abreast of current movements in the field of sexual misconduct investigations by participating in continuous learning including conferences, workshops, etc. Build relationships with colleagues at peer institutions; review current literature and research; participate in local, regional and/or national professional associations. organizations.

5. Develop and maintain relationships and clear lines of communication with campus and community partners. Collaborate with on and off-campus resources including law enforcement and victim services in resolving complaints and work with the Title IX Coordinator to ensure that the University's processes, responses, and policies are consistent with applicable federal and state laws and regulations.

6. Assist with the preparation and maintenance of statistical, demographic, and subject matter data related to Title IX complaints and trends. This includes being responsible for keeping thorough, accurate, and comprehensive records related to all assigned case investigations.

REQUIREMENTS Must understand, support and embrace the mission of Franciscan University of Steubenville and possess the following:

Work Experience:
• Minimum of 3 years of civil rights-related or sexual/relationship violence investigative experience in the education, employment, and/or law enforcement field. Demonstrated prior experience conducting investigations; analyzing, interpreting, and applying complex laws, rules and regulations; drawing reasonable conclusions; writing investigation reports; recommending action under established timelines; and facilitating the resolution of complaints.
• Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of and ability to interpret federal and state nondiscrimination and sexual/relationship violence laws, including Title IX, VAWA, Clery and other related laws and policies.
• Experience working on issues of sexual misconduct with college-age population is strongly preferred.
• Experience in and awareness of the sensitivity required when interacting with, supervising, and addressing the needs of a diverse community on sensitive topics. Experience in trauma informed investigations and interviewing skills is required.

• Must demonstrate the awareness and sensitivity required when interacting with and addressing the needs of complainants and respondents on matters of discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct.
• Exceptional critical thinking skills demonstrated by the ability to analyze information, evaluate results, and facilitate resolution of difficult challenges, including the ability to handle issues of complex and extreme sensitivity.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess and negotiate complex, highly sensitive situations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and strong public speaking and presentation skills
• Ability to independently and efficiently manage a caseload, and the ability to prioritize. Education:
• Minimum of a Master’s degree with a concentration in a related field such as criminal justice, counseling, or student development or Bachelor’s degree with seven year of experience in a related field. Juris Doctorate is preferred.
• Prior completion of sexual violence prevention and/or response training through a nationally-recognized organization.

Technical Skills:
• Computer proficiency, including Excel, Microsoft Word, and Power Point.

Workplace Factors:
• Occasional nights and weekends are required.
• Occasional travel for ongoing professional development is required.
