JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

 1.  Support the existing CSPD Instrument Tracking System:

      a.   Maintain CSPD Database records and count sheets (including loaner and consigned items)

      b.   Coordinate with IT to install upgrades, working with users to minimize disruption of service

      b.   Perform systems administration functions as required

      c.   Coordinate with IT to ensure appropriate network access for servers and workstations as well as system user rights

      d.   Serve as liaison between vendors/programmers, and the department

      e.   Provide technical assistance to users (e.g. client software, training of users to access system, etc.

      f.    Coordinate with IT during upgrades and maintenance of workstation hardware and software and provide training as needed

      f.    Continuously improve instrument tracking system looking for ways to improve its content and effectiveness


 2.  Assist IT in ensuring data integrity, security and confidentiality by:

      a.   Providing input into the determination and implementation of appropriate backup methods and procedures as well as restrictions on access to software and hardware, as applicable Providing input on downtime processes in the event of system failure or scheduled maintenance

3. Troubleshoot computer problems, drawing on IT resources and vendors as necessary

 4.  Act as a technical resource for the Surgical Services department:

      a.   Represent CSPD hardware requirements to the appropriate IS applications team

      b.   Participate in the evaluation and testing of proposed software applications

Participate in departmental short and long term planning as it relates to computer information systems. Maintain knowledge of hardware and software products trends as they related to Surgical Services information systems to provide input to the Department Director related to cost effective solutions for identified functions/users working closely with IT. Initiate training for new orientees to the department and continued training of existing staff as needed. Retrieve and input monthly statistical information into a customized system for the CSPD Director and Surgical Services Executive Director.  Examine operational computerized information on a daily basis, correcting errors, as needed.  Compile all monthly departmental statistical information into customized reporting.  Forward information to appropriate parties

Serve as the departmental liaison with Information Systems

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree in Computer Science or health related field or contracted to obtain an equivalent degree, with two years of combined experience in systems maintenance, analysis, implementation required.  Excellent communication skills desired.
