Provide overall administrative management and coordination of various business related functions in the Department of Pathology including finance, budget, strategic planning, personnel, space and facilities planning, grant administration and policy interpretation in the School of Medicine.
Provide administrative direction and coordination in the formulation, interpretation and administration of current and long-range policies, procedures and programs within the School of Medicine.
Plan departmental budget needs for a complex, high-dollar budget by analyzing clinical program plans on a short and long term basis to include projecting possible levels of support from multiple sources of funding. Strategically manage financial resources to achieve optimal utilization of funds.
Determine fiscal requirements, make projections and prepare departmental budgets; monitor, verify and reconcile expenditure of budgeted funds; prepare financial statements reflecting status of programs and activities; ensure compliance with University policies and procedures. Manage financial policies involving personnel/payroll, purchasing, budget management and travel.
Establish departmental schedules, task assignments manpower allocation, space and equipment to ensure conformance with commitments, goals and objectives.
Maintain liaison with all level of administration, faculty and outside organizations to coordinate departmental business, accomplish directives and facilitate the resolution of problems.
Coordinate the compilation and preparation of operational and financial reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions. Direct and supervise departmental business office staff; manage personnel activities; provide advice and recommendations for divisional management.
Assist in planning and coordination of construction, relocation and maintenance activities within the department.
Represent departmental chairman in meetings, conferences and other affairs of an administrative nature.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

EducationWork requires a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospital Administration, Accounting or a closely related field.
