Elon University seeks an experienced, effective, and strategic leader to serve as its Assistant Vice President for Human Resources (AVPHR). The AVPHR is responsible for policy development and operations of the Office of Human Resources and  will provide functional leadership and oversight for the following areas of HR: salary and compensation; employee benefits; employee relations; labor relations; recruitment; employee development and training; employee recognition programs; faculty and staff wellness programs; workers’ compensation program; performance appraisal processes; and compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws. Elon seeks an engaged leader passionate about the role that higher education plays in the development of people and society.    

Reporting to Bob Shea, Vice President for Business, Finance, and Technology, the AVPHR will be expected to brief and interact with Elon’s senior leadership on strategic human resources issues impacting the University and its people. The position has campus-wide impact and interacts with faculty, staff, and administrators across the University community. The AVPHR will lead Human Resources as a collaborative strategic institutional partner through programs, policy and process development and implementation, and participation on Elon’s University-wide committees.
