Director of the Counseling Program and Asst or Assoc. Professor of Counseling
Trinity Washington University seeks a Director of the Counseling Program, a master’s-level program in the School of Education offering the M.A. degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling. Trinity enrolls more than 100 graduate students annually in the Counseling Programs. Trinity’s Counseling Program is accredited by CACREP.
The Counseling Program Director is primarily responsible to oversee the curricula, pedagogy, clinical field work and assessment processes of the program, along with supervising the faculty and staff and managing the accreditation relationship. The director will also teach several courses per semester and advise students. Additionally, with the Dean of Education the director engages in strategic planning for the program and the School of Education, identifying opportunities for growth and innovation, and developing new partnerships with external systems, agencies and private businesses that can contribute to program development and improved service to the counseling needs of the Washington region.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to counselor education with an emphasis on cultural competency and social justice. The candidate should have a solid track record of teaching a range of courses in Counseling as well as experience as an academic administrator preferably in a CACREP-accredited program. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in the field of Counselor Education; must be licensed as a clinical professional counselor or have certification as a professional school counselor; and must provide evidence of active participation and leadership in the American Counseling Association or affiliates.
This is a full-time tenure-track faculty position with administrative duties. Trinity will hire at the assistant or associate professor level depending upon experience and achievements; Trinity does not hire-in with tenure but may choose to award years of experience toward the probationary period.
