Position Summary

As part of the Marketing and Creative Services team in the Office of Communications and marketing, this individual is responsible for designing creative communications and marketing solutions to support Middlebury’s departments, schools, and programs.

The individual must be able to work independently, take direction and receive feedback while working closely with creative colleagues and stakeholders on a wide range of projects. These will include print publications, marketing and collateral materials, advertisements, multimedia interfaces, web graphics, and integrated communications and marketing efforts that employ multiple media.

The position reports to Creative Director in the Office of Communications and Marketing.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

Earliest anticipated start date is February 27, 2019.

The individual in this position will collaborate with colleagues in the Office of Communications and Marketing and with partners from other departments, schools, and programs to conceptualize and execute effective communication and marketing pieces and campaigns that are consistent with Middlebury’s brand guidelines and positioning strategies.

Specific responsibilities include:

•Working closely with creative colleagues and with stakeholders on a wide range of projects, including print publications, collateral materials, advertisements, multimedia interfaces, and web graphics.
•Helping partner organizations from across the institution achieve their goals by providing design expertise and high-quality, compelling, and customized visuals.

General Responsibilities
  • Performs other duties as assigned to assist the department.
Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related field or comparable professional experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

•Strong skills in Adobe Creative Suite specifically InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop, other software as needed.
•A highly-collaborative working style with acute understanding of unifying messages and visuals.
•Above average understanding of typography.
•Understanding and support of institutional brand guidelines.
•Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously and effectively.
•Attention to detail and a natural tendency to double check work before sharing with stakeholders or sending to print.
•Strong organizational skills
•A willingness to learn and explore
•Professional written and verbal communication and the ability to interact with all levels at the institution.

Experience

Minimum 2 years of professional design experience.
