(Wednesdays 6:00 pm – 7:50 pm from January 10 to April 11, 2018)
The instructor will prepare graduate level teacher candidates to examine and apply various effective instructional approaches to advance overall literacy attainment with low-achieving readers in inclusive classrooms. Formal and informal assessment protocols will be examined in order to diagnose, evaluate, and remediate literacy problems of students with and without disabilities. Instruction includes reading and writing in the content areas to provide opportunities to select and adapt materials and texts to meet the needs of unique learners.
Requirements:
Terminal or advanced degree (Master’s degree minimum) with state teaching certification and elementary school reading teaching experience required. Experience in teaching students in an urban, multicultural setting.
