Assistant Professor - Campbell Graduate Engineering Program

Clemson University's Department of Automotive Engineering is searching for outstanding applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level, related to advanced materials and manufacturing.

Research areas of interest include Industry 4.0 and digitization of the manufacturing enterprise; machine learning and big data in manufacturing; sensors and cyberphysical systems for manufacturing; energy-efficient approaches to manufacturing; materials informatics; and integrated approaches for materials and process innovations.

The position will include a competitive salary and startup package to support the research mission of the Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Group. Candidates will also interact with existing research groups throughout Clemson University, and participate in interdisciplinary research initiatives.

The Department of Automotive Engineering is a fully integrated tenure-granting graduate department within the College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Science at Clemson University. The department offers MS and PhD degrees in Automotive Engineering, and is partially funded with a total of $36 million in endowments. The Department of Automotive Engineering has graduated 438 MS and 52 PhD students since its inception in 2007, and is located on Clemson's CU-ICAR innovation campus in Greenville, South Carolina. The CU-ICAR campus currently houses 20 companies and has interactions with over 200 industry partners, including top global manufacturers and suppliers.

• A Ph.D. or equivalent in a relevant technical discipline, such as Mechanical Engineering

• A knowledge and experience base in global automotive and heavy-duty technologies with connections to industry

• The qualities of an "entrepreneurial scholar." This means an individual who converts a vision into reality through superior strategic planning and execution skills, while leading the intellectual exploration of new methods related to advanced concepts in manufacturing and materials platforms, and their impact in sustainable mobility and/or transportation sector

• The ability to build a research program, produce scholarly publications and have a strong dedication to undergraduate and graduate level teaching
