Savannah State University seeks qualified applicants for Network Services Specialist II. This position provides support for the network infrastructure in the local area network, includes but is not limited to enterprise applications, servers, and networking equipment. The incumbent provides timely support through help desk requests, and by servicing emergency calls; monitors network utilization and develops implementation plans for new applications and systems. Serves as a member of a team that provides application and hardware deployment services to the University; coordinates work activities through Helpdesk software; supports and troubleshoots network, voice, and video surveillance problems. Interacts with vendors, faculty, and staff to carry out the objectives of the position; remains current with the technological advances in networking that will help to facilitate problem resolution. May be directed to perform job related tasks other than those specifically delineated in this description. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Minimum QualificationsA four-year college degree or two-year degree with two plus years of experience is required. Must be able to configure and install Cisco networking switches, wireless access points and controllers, VOIP equipment, and Video Surveillance Systems; update networking equipment with the latest security patches; troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues; implement and maintain life safety devices (call boxes, call towers); and have strong application, troubleshooting, and analytical skills. Background and/or credit check may be required.
