Job Title English Assistant Professor - Tenure Track Job Description

The instructor will teach courses in Creative Writing, English Composition (expository writing, argumentation and research-based writing), and Professional Writing (e.g., technical writing, digital content creation, and/or journalism). Participation in departmental curricular assessment expected, as well as advising and committee service.

Essential Duties Summary Required Qualifications

Master of Fine Arts or Master’s degree in English, English Composition, Rhetoric, or Professional Writing;
College teaching experience, including teaching in multiple modalities.

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D. in Creative Writing, English, English Composition, Rhetoric, or Professional Writing;
Community college teaching experience;
Online teaching experience;
Experience performing curricular assessment

Other Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to serve the needs of students who represent a broad spectrum of ages, abilities, ethnicities, cultural, and educational backgrounds.
Awareness of own cultural values and biases.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with peers.

EMPLOYMENT
This is a full-time, tenure-track faculty appointment with employment expected to begin starting Fall 2019 and is subject to legislative funding. Placement on the established faculty salary schedule is dependent upon education and teaching experience. The State of Washington provides a comprehensive benefits package for all state employees.

Centralia College faculty are represented by the Centralia College Federation of Teachers, Local No. 4469, AFT/AAFL-CIO and, in accordance with the faculty agreement, “All full-time faculty members, as a condition of continued employment on or after the thirtieth day following the beginning of such employment, shall become members of the Federation OR pay a representation fee to the Federation.”
