The Department of Neuroscience, at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, seeks several Postdoctoral Research Associates to study the molecular mechanisms of meningeal lymphatic function. These positions are in the laboratory of Dr. Jonathan Kipnis, Ph.D. The Kipnis lab is a member of the dynamic Center for Brain Immunology and Glia (BIG), equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment and is surrounded by highly collaborative groups with interests ranging from brain infections to demyelination in Multiple Sclerosis and Autism.

Candidates for these positions must have a PhD in Neuroscience, Immunology, Biology, or related field as well as extensive experience in conducting independent research and working with trainees and/or technicians. In addition, candidates should have first-author publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals and effective oral and written communication skills.

The University of Virginia is located in picturesque and historical Charlottesville with outstanding schools and affordable housing, and is less than two hours from Washington, DC, and only an hour away from Richmond, VA.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Candidates for these positions must have a PhD in Neuroscience, Immunology, Biology, or related field by appointment start date.

Experience: Candidates must have extensive experience in conducting independent research and working with trainees and/or technicians. In addition, candidates should have first-author publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals and effective oral and written communication skills.

Licensure: None

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require walking some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
