 SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:  

Dorm Supervisors for the 4-H Youth Programs are employed by KSU to serve as on-site, residential teachers throughout the duration of the assigned program(s). Dorm Supervisors serve as campus guides, role models, chaperones, and supervisors to counseling staff in the absence of a Program Coordinator. Dorm Supervisors monitor the residence hall throughout the sleeping hours, assist with medication administration, sign-in/out process and essential to the emergency management team. Dorm Supervisors are responsible for the well-being of program participants. 

  

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (ex: duties that are essential to performing the job
with or without an accommodation) 

· Monitor program participants in assigned residence hall from 8pm to 8am. 

· Provide support and direction to program participants in residence hall during morning and evening hours 

· Lead the morning and evening routines 

· Provide direction and instruction to Mentors/Counselors in absence of Lead Teacher and Program Coordinator 

· Serve as a positive role model and be attentive to the program participants at all times. 

· Assist program participants and their families or emergency contact persons if a challenging or emergency situation arises 

· Lead group and behavior management 

· Delegate responsibilities to Mentors/Counselors to ensure schedule
is adhered to 

· Ensure all program participants feel safe in the program
environment 

· Maintains a safe and clean dorm environment 

· Mentor student teams/group 

· Assist in timely arrival and departure to morning activities 

· Provide emergency management throughout program duration 

· Accompany program participants at all times or delegate escorts to
counselors as appropriate (i.e. to the Health Center, to the workshop site to
retrieve a forgotten item) 

· Manage all discipline issues in the absence of a Lead Teacher;
follow and enforce Code of Conduct and Conflict Resolution Plan - lead group
and behavior management 

· Conduct head count before departure from KSU residence halls 

· Maintain highest level of communication with Program Coordinator, Program Assistant(s) Lead Teacher(s), Mentors/Counselors, and Recreation
Leader(s) 

· Complete and submit all reporting forms as necessary (Daily Report, Medication Log, Incident Report, and Sign-In/Out Forms) 

· Create and maintain communication method with Mentors/Counselors to collect needed information 

· Attend and participate in CPR and First Aid training 

· Attend and participate in required skill building training sessions 

· Adolescent Development Training 

· Program Orientation 

  

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Previous experience supervising adolescents in groups of 20 or more 

Previous experience in a residential setting is preferred 

Satisfactory criminal background check 

  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:  

Ability to adapt to changing schedule, circumstance 

Ability to manage a staff of six (6) pre-professionals 

Effective communication and interpersonal skills 

Ability to manage conflicts among adolescents. 

  

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
 

Frequent outdoor and physically active projects 

Extensive hours in case of emergency and during travel
