Job FieldThe Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, invites applications for one full-time teaching stream appointment in the area of fieldwork education. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2019, or shortly thereafter.

We are seeking candidates with scholarship and experience in occupational therapy fieldwork education. The successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of excellence in teaching, achievements in educational scholarship, and effective professional leadership within the occupational therapy community. We are seeking individuals with a demonstrated interest in creating and fostering community partnerships, and adopting, implementing and evaluating innovative models for occupational therapy fieldwork education.

 
Applicants will have a PhD in a field relevant to occupational therapy practice, by the time of appointment or shortly thereafter, three years of experience as an occupational therapy fieldwork educator, and at least five years of experience as a practicing occupational therapist. Eligibility for registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario is required. Candidates must have teaching expertise in an entry-level Master of Occupational Therapy program, including lecture preparation and delivery, curriculum development, and development of online material/lectures. Additionally, candidates must possess a demonstrated commitment to excellent pedagogical practices and a demonstrated interest in teaching-related scholarly activities.

Responsibilities include: teaching fieldwork and related courses; mentoring and advising students on preparation for and success in fieldwork placements; educating and mentoring fieldwork educators/preceptors; contributions to educational scholarship; and service to the Department through committee membership.

Evidence of excellence in teaching and pedagogical inquiry can be demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, awards and accolades, presentations at significant conferences, the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application including the teaching philosophy, sample syllabi, course materials, and teaching evaluations, as well as strong letters of reference from referees of high standing.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
