Job Type: Career Department Name: 4100-ADMINISTRATIVE INFORMATION SYSTEMS Department Website URL: www.it.ucla.edu Job Summary Statement: The Director, Information Technology Security is an advocate for UCLA's information security needs and is responsible for the development and delivery of comprehensive information security strategies that optimize the security posture of the University. The director leads the development, implementation and management of IT security programs that leverages collaboration with campus-wide resources, facilitates information security governance, advises senior leadership on security direction and resource investments, and designs appropriate policies to manage information security risk. The Director oversees Incident Response, Risk Assessment, Security Operations, PCI Compliance and Identity & Access Management (IAMUCLA) functions, including inspiring and motivating staff, hiring, performance management, professional development and financial management of unit. In addition, the Director is designated as the Campus Information Security Officer in accordance with the University of California's Electronic Information Security policy. Under this policy, the director makes critical decisions on IT security matters and erroneous decisions will have a serious impact on the overall success of the campus.

The complexity of this position requires a leadership approach that is engaging, imaginative, and collaborative, with a sophisticated ability to work with other leaders to set the best balance between security strategies and other priorities at the campus level. The Director will represent the campus on system-wide projects or committees, participate in collaboration with other campuses and industry partners to develop and share information security best practices. Percentage of Time: 100 Shift Start: 8:00 am Shift End: 5:30 pm function checkForSelectedStatus(){ return true;} Qualifications for Position 12 Records Qualifications Required/Preferred Demonstrated deep knowledge of a broad array of enterprise technologies including applications, networks, systems, databases, cloud computing and data centers. Required Advanced knowledge of IT Security concepts, security assessments, associated security software tools and industry standards. Required Adept in program management of strategic IT functions; skilled in short- and long-term planning; able establish business value of IT decisions among Senior Management. Ability to effectively manage multiple large-scale projects using formal project management methods to ensure delivery within scope and budget. Required Advanced knowledge of security regulations and best practices, including federal and state laws, policies and standards. Required Ability to rapidly respond to critical incidents with equanimity and confidence while minimizing impact. Required Experienced in leading change management activities and managing their impact across multiple units or departments. Required Possess the business acumen and professional presence to be able to persuade, gain acceptance, and support of others in critical situations, while also fostering collaborative and productive professional relationships. Required Ability to effectively lead, inspire and manage diverse teams of technical and non-technical professionals including hiring, performance management and professional development. Required Possess the verbal and written communication skills to work effectively with technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization; ability to use standard English grammar and punctuation. Ability to effectively deliver presentations to large audiences in a clear and concise manner. Required Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems (or related) OR equivalent relevant professional experience and education. Required Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Information Systems. Preferred Extensive knowledge of security regulations relevant to higher education. In 15 of the 16 medical specialty areas examined, UCLA Medical Center ranked in the top 20.
