Summary

The Director of the Office of LGBTQIA Student Life is responsible for assisting the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs/ Multicultural Affairs in providing provide leadership, budget management and direction for Tulane's LGBTQIA student community.   This position promotes and supports the needs of the LGBTQIA student community.  As the key University resource dedicated to addressing the needs of LGBTQIA students, the Director addresses a broad range of issues including: administrative services, information services, educational services, and leadership.  This position provides evaluation and assessment for all LGBTQ+ activities and services. The Director assists with hiring, training and supervising professional and student staff.  Manages the development and facilitation of diversity, Ally and Trans 101 trainings and educational programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 7 years of related work experience to include LGBTQ service and programming experience
Or

  • High School diploma/equivalent and 9 years of related work experience to include LGBT service and programming experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in higher education administration, student affairs, counseling or gender & sexuality studies.
  • 7 or more years' progressive experience in positions of increasing responsibilities pertaining to student advisement, program and events development, and a strong record of organization/community building whether in Student Affairs, academic settings, community based organizations, or NGOs.
  • A reputation in LGBTQI+ / gender and sexuality diversity education and demonstrated leadership experience working within multicultural or social justice based centers on a university campus within an urban setting.
  • Experience managing budgets and supervising full-time professional staff.
  • A proven track record for advancing institutional equity and inclusion for LGBTQI+ communities.
  • Knowledge of the New Orleans LGBTQIA community.
  • Experience in program development and implementation, especially in higher education program administration.
