Job Summary

The John B. Moore Documentary Studies Collaborative (MDOCS) has an opening for a Summer Program Assistant position during the 2019 Storytellers’ Institute (5/28-6/28). The Program Assistant would work with the Institute Director and Staff on various tasks including but not limited to: graphic design, guest relations, event planning, administrative duties, social media management, event photo and video coverage, and any other tasks involved in the planning and coordination of the 2019 Storytellers’ Institute.

If interested, the chosen applicant may request housing on Skidmore campus during the entirety of the Storytellers’ Institute (5/28-6/28), but this would not be covered by the Storytellers’ Institute. If a candidate chooses to live OFF campus, living in Saratoga Springs or the immediate surrounding area is recommended because work schedule may vary depending on the day and events. Position will require some evening and weekend availability. Candidate must be available to work the weekend of June 8-9.

The ideal candidate would be a student interested in documentary, arts administration, event management and/or multimedia production who is looking to gain professional experience in these fields.

More about the Storytellers’ Institute:
The MDOCS Storytellers’ Institute is a 5-week long artist residency program open to documentary creators working in all mediums (film, photo, audio, exhibit, multimedia, etc.) and Skidmore students, faculty and staff looking to advance an evidence-based project.

The theme for the 2019 Storytellers’ Institute is “HUMOR: Laughing With Reality.” Throughout the month of June, participants will work on independent projects that exemplify a deep understanding and critical analysis of humor in documentary work honoring the long tradition of non-fiction makers who, through satire and silliness, have employed humor as means to transgress social norms, toy with the taboo, and empower us through laughter.
