Job Purpose: Provide learning support opportunities to students in assigned target group(s) through directing programs designed to help them excel in their academic endeavors. Services provided including tutoring, facilitating faculty interaction, and academic coaching. Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing performance, providing feedback, and making pay recommendations.
Major Responsibilities:
- Plan, design, and coordinate a range of programs and services that support student academic endeavors.
- Lead the hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating tutors, SI leaders, and student assistants.
- Oversee data management/assessment for all academic support programs.
- Develop and request crystal reports for reporting, assessment and evaluation purposes; and ensuring data are stored securely and in compliance with OIT and Institute guidelines and policies.
- Coordinate all operations and logistics in assigned tutoring area, including managing tutoring reception desk, departmental tutoring rooms; oversee technology and A/V equipment that support tutoring programs.
- Oversee marketing materials and communication efforts for tutoring and academic support programs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Work Experience: Three to four years job related experience
- Certifications: N/A
- Skills: This job requires advanced knowledge of effective teaching and learning practices; working knowledge of student development theory and advising practices; advanced knowledge of provision of academic support services; advanced skills in office related computer applications; familiarity with basic skills in data analysis and descriptive statistics; strong verbal and written skills; excellent customer service, leadership, and supervisory skills; ability to communicate with diverse population of students, staff, and faculty.
Qualifications Preferred Qualifications:
- Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Preferred Work Experience: Four or more years of job related experience; Experience working in a registrar's office, worked with curriculum management (in regards to processing curricular changes), catalog management.
- Preferred Certifications: N/A
- Preferred Skills: Skills preferred for this job include knowledge of Student Information Systems such as Banner and DegreeWorks. Program management experience.
- Additional Responsibilities include: Provide primary administrative support for the Institute Curriculum Committees. Assist with preparation for Curriculum Committee meetings and preparation of minutes. Assist with preparation of slides for the Academic Senate meetings and the annual reports. Work with academic units on campus on routine curricular change matters, new course proposals, and petitions to the faculty. Support production of the on-line Catalog, DegreeWorks, and Banner. Provide administrative support (as needed) to Subcommittees and other work groups formed by the Curriculum Committees.
