American International College is a private, coeducational institution of higher education located on a 70+ acre campus in Springfield, Massachusetts. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Work with other program area coordinators and the college administrative team to ensure that degree programs are nationally recognized as innovators in the field. Work with faculty, administrators, and staff to support a research and scholarly agenda consistent with the established expectations. Maintain effective engagement of faculty in continuous improvement efforts, aiding in curriculum development and insuring that all levels of curriculum review of the College and departmental learning goals are met.Facilitate the operation of the program through regular adjunct faculty meetings faculty meetings. Travel to course sites at least twice per eight-week session for class observations. Work collaboratively with regional administrators in preparation for adjunct professional development, technical assistance and demonstration of best practices. Teach, six credit hours per year. Co-advises with assigned academic program advisors to ensure accurate program matriculation. Send appropriate correspondence to program majors and adjunct faculty as necessary. Provide liaison, information and evaluation to administrative offices. Lead the program in setting both short- and long-term goals, in establishing and executing assessment efforts and in using assessment results to promote continuous program improvement.Address questions and concerns from students, faculty, and staff with the expectation of resolution of issues at the program level; determining when the matter should
    move to another level. Other duties as assigned by the dean (e.g., serving on committees, reporting, departmental representation). 

  

QUALIFICATIONS

    Required Degree(s): Master's degree in Curriculum and InstructionPreferred Degree(s): Ed.D in Curriculum and InstructionRequired Field of Expertise: Minimum of three years of teaching experience in grades 4-12. Qualifications to teach courses in the Department of Secondary and Middle Grades Education. 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

    Experience providing leadership in curriculum development. Experience supporting/promoting online learning and teaching. Previous experience in an academic supervisory capacity/leadership position. Sustained record of teaching, supervision, and mentoring; research and creative activity; and professional service. Knowledge of program review and accreditation process.Ability to set goals, plan strategies, organizes resources and executes work under conditions of excessive stress. Demonstrated ability to administer programs.Ability to foster a collaborative atmosphere among students and faculty.Committed to a culture of diversity, respect and inclusion; demonstrated ability to build working relationships with people having a wide variety of backgrounds,
    perspectives, and experiences. 

  

WORK SCHEDULE

This is a full-time, exempt, benefited position. Normal office hours are 8:30 am - 4:30 pm., flexible to the needs of the department. A flexible schedule is required for evening and weekend support during key faculty support times. It may involve some travel.
