Valparaiso University, located in northwestern Indiana, invites applications for a one year Visiting Assistant Professor position in biology beginning mid-August, 2019 and continuing through May 2020.  Candidates who are dedicated to excellence in undergraduate teaching with a strong background in anatomy & physiology are encouraged to apply. Teaching responsibilities for the academic year may include anatomy & physiology lecture at a level appropriate for nursing and health professions students, introductory laboratories, and a senior seminar on a topic of expertise.  The position will include teaching responsibilities for the equivalent of 3-4 course sections each semester. 

The Department of Biology is committed to excellent teaching at many levels: molecular, cellular, organismic, population, community, ecosystem, evolutionary. The department is staffed with eleven Ph.D.-level, full-time tenure-track faculty members, two M.S.-level laboratory coordinators/instructors, and a lab technician. Currently, the department has approximately 160 undergraduate biology majors; the department also serves students in the Colleges of Nursing and Health Professions and Engineering. Valparaiso University has a student-faculty ratio of 15:1.
