The Class Dean is an individual contributor who coordinates a holistic, developmental undergraduate experience for students as they progress from Sophomore to Senior year; guides & advises students to ensure & support success; collborates to create an integrated transformative student experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree required in student personnel or higher education administration, education , social work or counseling.

Minimum five (5) years of professional experience, preferably in the areas of academic enrichment/coaching, case management, crisis intervention and / or behavioral assessment

Preferred Qualifications Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

•Experience developing educational programs for college students
•Demonstrated skills in assessment & program evaluation
•Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
•Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
•Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet established goals and objectives
•Ability to work independently or as part of a team
•Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively in a team environment

The incumbent provides guidance and personalized developmental advising to students that ensures and supports the welfare and success of the student. The CLASS Dean collaborates with faculty and other campus departments to create an integrated transformative student experience which promotes student success.

The CLASS Dean advances Clustered Learning Advocacy and Support for Students (CLASS), the transformative student experience at Rensselaer. Strategic class programs and initiatives will be planned and executed that will enhance student success, engagement and affinity group development. CLASS is a comprehensive approach to the student experience at Rensselaer. Through ongoing support, guidance, and co-curricular activities, CLASS connects students to a network of faculty, staff, and other students, ensuring that they are part of a strong community of learners.
