Position Summary

The University of Denver seeks nominations and applications for the position of Associate Director, Community Philanthropy & Activation. This is a unique opportunity for a talented professional and leader to join a dynamic, growing and purposeful enterprise united around a compelling mission charted by Chancellor Rebecca Chopp and Vice Chancellor for Advancement Armin Afsahi.

The Associate Director, Community Philanthropy & Activation reports directly to the Director of Lead Marketing and Community Activation within the Creative Engagement team, a unit within the Global Networks function of University of Denver Advancement. As an integral member of the Creative Engagement team, they will oversee the continued development of integrated campus community philanthropy programs, specifically those focused on students, faculty and staff, parent and family giving, leveraging major and micro campaigns to inspire giving. Additionally, the Associate Director will play a key role in the establishment of a cohesive recent graduate activation program for undergraduate and graduate alumni of the University, working closely with Global Networks partners. The Associate Director will also work closely with their teammates on other key initiatives that could be leveraged to bolster philanthropic participation of the campus community and recent graduates, including but not limited to One Day for DU.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated success in goal setting and developing metrics, strategies and tactics to grow revenue.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess the needs of various stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage creative programming.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including verbal, written and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Exceptionally high level of customer service skills.
  • Adept at using judgment and discretion in situations that require sensitivity and tact.



Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 5 years of paid fundraising experience, which could include community organizing or campaign roles.



Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a University, nonprofit or mission-driven setting.
  • Supervisory experience, to include supervising volunteers.



Work Schedule

  • Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
  • Evenings and weekends as required.
