Overview

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent (probationary) position. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.

Under general supervision of the Director, the Administrative Support Coordinator is the principal assistant to the Director of the School of Music and Dance and serves as Fiscal Accounts Coordinator with complete budgetary responsibility for the School’s State Operating Budget, Faculty Instructional Budget, Foundation Accounts, Scholarship, and Endowment Funds, as well as Box Office revenues. The position also facilitates the RTP process as well as the Temporary Faculty Periodic Evaluations and Post-Tenure Reviews. In addidtion the position also functions as office coordinator and provides professional, responsive customer service to an array of students, faculty, staff, alumni and community partners.

Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $3,900 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,115 - $5,475 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

Minimum Qualifications

Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally, incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite.

These qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.

Preferred Qualifications and Specialized Skills

  • Familiarity with music and dance educational practices desired
  • Experience in a higher education setting
  • Three to five years of related or comparable office work experience
  • Experience analyzing budgetary data and making accurate projections
  • Experience in the use of Oracle, Astra, PI profile, Web Portal or similar software and/or database applications
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze fiscal problems and develop, recommend and evaluate proposed solutions
