Overview

Position Information

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, temporary position anticipated to end on or before one year from the start date, with the possibility of reappointment and/or permanency. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.

The purpose of this position is to oversee and handle 3rd party billings and special programs for students attending San Diego State University. This position is responsible for the billing of 3rd party agencies for student tuition and fees each semester, applying waivers to students accounts, overseeing outgoing and incoming exchange programs and generating monthly billing statements to all students owing funds to the university. Decisions made by this incumbent require independent judgment and persistence, along with expertise in policy to determine a course of action. The incumbent often works with higher management levels as well. Broad areas of responsibilities and assigned duties are as follows:

Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $4,400 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,426 - $6,017 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Equivalent to four years of progressively responsible financial record-keeping experience; Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities.

Preferred Qualifications and Specialized Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or other applicable field of study.
  • Experience in a university student account or cashiering environment.
  • Experience using enterprise computer system.
  • Ability to communicate English in a clear, concise manner, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure of deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate with students, parents, faculty, staff and vendors.
  • Ability to provide accurate information and explain University policies and procedures to Students, Staff and Parents.
  • Ability to work closely and cooperatively with various campus departments.
  • Ability to work independently and carry out the day-to-day work without direct supervision.
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure of deadlines.
  • Ability to work with proficiency and expertise in working conditions that are subject to constant interruptions.
  • Ability to review data for accuracy and completeness, and make any necessary corrections.
