Associate Director, Internationalization Initiatives

Description:
Assist with Internationalization & Global Engagement's (IGE) day-to-day operations and be responsible for designing and delivering an array of internationalization programs, services, events and special projects, both independently and also in collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders. The Associate Director will be a key member of IGE's leadership team and will work collaboratively with the AVP to further develop and foster relationships locally and globally that not only expand opportunities for Emerson faculty and students, but also enhance the recognition of the College overall.
Successful candidates will have experience with streamlining processes and clearly communicating across diverse, cross-cultural and internal/external audiences.

Campus Location: Boston Campus

Required Knowledge:
• Master’s degree or comparable work experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a higher education setting as a program coordinator with international programs, intercultural affairs, education abroad or other areas within internationalization.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including strong public speaking skills and an ability to motivate students to participate in education abroad programs and related activities.
• Analytical skills, comfort with data systems and inclined towards data-driven decision making.
• Demonstrated experience successfully collaborating with faculty
• Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Advanced project management skills, ability to streamline processes and work well under pressure with limited supervision.
• Demonstrated cross-cultural communication skills and experience working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Preferred/Desirable Knowledge:
• Terminal degree (i.e Ph. D, Ed.D, J.D.) in a related field or comparable work experience. • Demonstrated experience with effective team leadership, including conflict resolution and mediation, staff training, sensitivity and flexibility in deadline with challenging situations. • Proficiency in a second language • Experience as a Designated School Official (DSO) • Experience living/working in another country • Interest in and knowledge of international education, including student mobility trends, comparative educational systems, program assessment and evaluation • Demonstrated participation and membership in signature international education and education abroad conferences, professional communities, etc. • Familiarity with higher education and education abroad software, particularly Banner and Horizons by Symplicity.
