CAPS Associate Director

Position Summary

Assists in administration, program planning and supervision of the MSU Counseling and Psychiatric Services in order to coordinate, regulate, monitor and improve counseling services. Will oversee the day to day clinical operations providing support, supervision for Assistant Directors in counseling, consultation, outreach, preventative education and referral functions; assists in planning, facilitation and coordination of resources to assure availability and accessibility of services; identifies key issues and service needs and helps assess the unit's role in provision of services to meet needs; assists in development of record keeping standards and monitoring of same; leads internal committee in development of a system of ongoing review and compliance measures; provides leadership in updating policies and procedures; reviews staff credentials; reviews licensor and credentialing rules of MSU and State of Michigan; facilitates communication of staff on professional and service delivery issues; refers issues and person with issues to appropriate others; serves as Acting Director in the absence of the Director.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing more than four years of graduate study beyond a Bachelor's degree, such as a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology, full licensure as a psychologist by the State of Michigan; one year pre-doctoral full-time internship; five to eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in counseling, consultation, outreach, preventive education in university counseling center or mental health clinical setting.

Desired Qualifications

Significant experience providing administrative clinical services in a large, complex system with multiple staff. Experience developing, implementing and overseeing clinical processes and services. Experience providing administrative supervision and leading others. Experience creating and developing mechanisms for clinical oversight, equity, and clinical efficiency and quality also highly preferred.

Typical Hours between 9AM-6PM with summer and Friday hours between 8AM-5PM. Some early and evening hours as well as weekend coverage will be necessary
