DepartmentReporting to the Assistant Director of Student Life Communications and working closely with the Manager, Communications Projects and the Student Life Communications team, the Graphic and Multi-Media Designer is responsible for conceptualization and implementation of design solutions that meet internal communications as well as divisional and institutional marketing print and web needs. The incumbent designs and produces publications, reports, flyers, presentations, proposals and other print and digital materials for a variety of internal and external purposes for the Division of Student Life. He/she meets with clients to discuss needs and provides services through the use of innovative design and production tools; delivers high quality work that promotes the desired image on time; liaises with internal and external sources as required, including senior staff.

Campus(MINIMUM)
EducationThree year college diploma from an accredited college of art or an acceptable equivalent education and experience.
Experience: Minimum of four (4) years related experience in graphic and multi-media design. Experience designing for both print and web.

Skills: Highly proficient with current versions of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere, Acrobat) and familiar with a wide range of other design, web and multimedia software and applications. Proficiency with HTML and CSS. Proficiency with photography and videography. Understanding of AODA requirements as they apply to design and creating accessible documents. Good understanding of interactive design principles, usability and online branding issues. Strong working knowledge of content management systems and their application such as Drupal or WordPress is an asset. Understanding of SEO principles is an asset. Understanding or familiarity with responsive design is an asset. Understanding of a web publishing process including quality assurance & testing.

Other: Ability to work independently with minimal guidance or as part of a team with other designers, internal print professionals, print brokers, web developers and marketing specialists. Strong organization and time management skills; excellent attention to detail. Outstanding communication skills both verbal and written. Ability to manage multiple projects of varying complexity. Ability to perform under pressure with varying workloads in a deadline-based environment. Demonstrated ability to work within established brand guidelines.
