  • Presents environmental education programs to students from Pre-k and older
  • Conducts tours at the Environmental Center which include the pine rockland, hammocks, butterfly gardens, organic gardens and animal exhibitions
  • Leads workshops at nature preserve center for children and adults
  • Assists in maintaining existing gardens, pathways, exhibits and animal displays
  • Leads birthday party functions such as scavenger hunts, hiking and feeding fish
  • Feeds and handles animals such as snakes, small alligators, turtles, insects
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from a regionally accredited institution, be at least 18 years of age, and have knowledge and passion about South Florida environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
  • Knowledgeable and passionate about conserving the South Florida Ecosystem
  • Ability to recommend improvements to existing programs as well as suggest new programs
  • Ability to interact and teach in a positive manner with young children in a structured learning environment
  • Ability to manage large groups of students during outdoor educational programs/tours
  • Ability to work outdoors and tolerate the heat, humidity and mosquitoes
  • Ability to identify beneficial native plants as well as invasive, harmful plants such as poison ivy
  • Ability to demonstrate a positive attitude and high level of energy
  • Proficiency in working safely and efficiently with garden tools
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evening and weekend assignments
  • Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural team environment as well as with students, faculty and staff
