Position Summary

The Department of Linguistics and Germanic, Slavic, Asian and African Languages at Michigan State University invites applications for a nine-month fixed-term position in Hindi at the rank of Assistant Professor. The position will begin August 16, 2019 on a three-year contract, and is renewable. Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications.

Duties will involve teaching three Hindi/Urdu language courses each semester during the academic year. It is also expected that the successful candidate will contribute to the overall educational and intellectual environment in the Indian and South Asian Studies Program, and in general will contribute to outreach and co-curricular activities as well as the development of experiential learning activities.

Required Degree

Doctorate -Second Language Acquisition

Minimum Requirements

Native or near-native fluency in Hindi and Urdu, undergraduate Hindi and Urdu teaching experience, and a PhD in Second Language Acquisition or a related field at the time of appointment.
