Position Details

The Department of Psychology in the College of Arts & Sciences is seeking a full-time Research Support Coordinator to join Dr. Daryl Greenfield's research lab. Dr. Greenfield's lab. Dr. Greenfield's research studies the development of social competence, emergent literacy and cognitive processes in low-income, multi-ethnic children during the transition from preschool into early elementary school. It also studies the effects of early intervention programs such as Head Start on children's early school success. The Research Support Coordinator will work closely on a variety of ongoing research projects with the responsibilities listed below.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Early Childhood Education, or other related field.
  • One year of work experience (experience obtained while working as a student on in a training environment will be considered)

Core Responsibilities

  • Organizes, hosts and participates in community education outreach activities to recruit study participants ensuring high participation rates, and serves as the primary contact person for referral sites.
  • Meets with study participants to explain the purpose of the study and study procedures and to obtain informed consent.
  • Assists with the preparation and monitoring of IRB documents, administers clinical interviews and measures, coordinates all assessment and patient contact activity, and tracks participants through all stages of the research program.
  • Ensures that the data collection aspects of the protocol are implemented in a rigorous fashion, interacts with statistical analysts as needed to facilitate data analyses and study-related reports, and supervises the implementation of data quality assurance procedures.
  • Carefully handles petty cash for study activities, organizes data forms and assists in manuscript, report, and grant proposal preparation.

Department Specific Responsibilities

  • Contact schools to arrange for setup of study sites; serve as liaison between the research team and the program site staff; supervise project staff; oversee data collection; review data for accuracy; assist with training project staff on assessment protocols.

  • Manage database; create and manage database input schedule; produce reports

  • Organize and manage calendars/online project management system to ensure project deadlines are met; take and distribute project notes; attend meetings with UM staff as well as research sites
