The Medical Laboratory Technician provides time sensitive lab services to OSU students and staff with a variety of diagnoses through testing, result reporting, and communication with providers and clinic staff. In addition, the Medical Laboratory Technician applies fine line discrimination and error detection on a routine basis; able to recognize the interdependency of tests and have knowledge of physiological conditions affecting test results so that results can be used in determining the presence, extent, and, as far as possible, the cause of a disease; assumes responsibility and held accountable for accurate results; assumes responsibility for the functions of a particular testing area or areas in the laboratory as assigned; demonstrates technical expertise as necessary to the area; assumes supervisory responsibilities as needed in absence of the laboratory supervisor and/or lab manager; assists with training as directed. Required to work evenings and some Saturdays.

Associates degree in medical laboratory technology or biological science with MLT certification, or equivalent education/experience; Basic Life Support – Health Care Worker certification or must be able to obtain prior to hire.

Desired Qualifications

ASCP certification or equivalent; experience in a clinical laboratory; health information systems and keyboarding experience.
