Job Summary/Basic Function:
The University of North Texas seeks outstanding applicants for a tenure track position in Materials Science and Engineering (MTSE). Applicants are sought at the Assistant/Associate Professor level with a strong research experience in additive manufacturing (AM) of materials. Salary, benefits, and teaching load typical for a major research university can be expected.

Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must have an earned doctorate in Materials Science and Engineering, or a related field, postdoctoral experience, and have demonstrated experience and expertise in metallic and/or metal-ceramic composite materials processed via AM, and in processing microstructure-property relationships in additively manufactured materials. Materials of interest include metals and ceramics for aerospace, biomedical, and oil and natural gas industries. A successful candidate must be capable of developing a strong externally funded research program and have a strong interest in both undergraduate and graduate teaching and mentoring.
For the Assistant Professor position, a strong publication record and the potential to succeed in securing external research funding and mentoring graduate students are required.
For the Associate Professor position, a sustained record of high quality technical publications, advising graduate students, mentoring post-doctoral research associates and junior faculty, providing service to the University and the profession, and securing external funding for research activities with current research funding are also required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants who provide detailed collaboration plans with members of the MTSE department and faculty within the UNT College of Engineering.
Candidates should have experience with experimentally and computationally-assisted methods for material design, process optimization, and performance prediction, and at least one degree from a US institution.
For the Assistant Professor position, post-doctoral research experience is preferred.
