The faculty member will conduct their assignments and co-curricular college activities in a manner consistent with the philosophy and purposes of Aims Community College as stated in the school catalog.
The primary purpose of the faculty member is to teach. The faculty member is also responsible for scholarly and creative activities (professional development) and service to the college.

DUTIES, ROLES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide effective and high quality instruction in Criminal Justice programs as assigned.
2. Apply learning-centered educational practices that provide a diverse array of learning activities directly tied to defined outcomes, use assessment data to improve instruction and learning, and participate in ongoing department and College-wide dialogues about teaching and learning.
3. Use and develop appropriate computer-based technologies and alternative methodologies to enhance student learning.
4. Teach at any scheduled time including evenings and weekends as assigned by Department Chair or Academic Dean.
5. Teach on any campus/outreach/online site at any scheduled time as assigned by the Department Chair or Academic Dean.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF FULL-TIME FACULTY:
1. Provide effective and high quality instruction.
2. Develop and refine curriculum as necessary to maintain currency in pedagogy and content.
3. Engage in professional development to maintain currency in field of expertise.
4. Adopt new teaching methodologies as appropriate or as designated by Department Chair or Academic Dean.
5. Fulfill departmental and College service requirements by making meaningful contributions on campus and/or to community groups.
6. Work as a team member with a genuine spirit of cooperation and flexibility.
7. Participate in institutional and departmental recruitment and retention activities.
8. Assist the department in program and curriculum review, revision, development and assessment of learning.
9. Assist the department in the evaluation and selection of textbooks and other resources and materials.
10. Work toward fulfillment of the College’s mission and purposes and implement department, division, and/or institutional goals as assigned.
11. Provide competent advising to students seeking the Associate degree.
12. Collaborate in the development and implementation of diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments of learning for students in assigned courses.
13. Maintain positive and professional interpersonal relationships with students, faculty, staff, and administration.
14. Demonstrate a willingness to embrace and apply the provisions of the College’s Mission Statement, Purpose, Philosophy and commitment to diversity.
15. Attend Division meetings and department meetings.
16. Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair or Academic Dean.

INSTITUTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Work toward fulfillment of Aims Community College’s mission and purposes and implement department, division, and/or instructional goals as assigned.
2. Participate in institutional and department recruitment and retention activities.
3. Participate in implementation of institutional goals and objectives in collaboration with other departments and programs of the institution.
4. Participate in Windsor Campus planning and activities.
5. Initiate and maintain liaison relationships with external agencies, businesses and other institutions as necessary.
6. Must be able to fulfill these minimum responsibilities of full-time faculty at Aims:
a. Provide effective and high quality instruction.
b. Provide competent academic advising to students.
c. Develop and refine curricula as necessary to maintain currency in instruction (design, delivery, technology and content).
d. Engage in on-going professional development.
e. Fulfill college service requirements by making meaningful contributions that advance college goals.
f. Maintain office hours as assigned.
7. Be willing to take methods courses to enhance course delivery.
8. Maintain positive and professional interpersonal relationships with students, faculty, staff and administration.

Functional Attributes of Job Duty Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a part/full-time basis.

1.Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice or a related field.
2.Minimum of 3 years documented teaching experience in Criminal Justice or related training courses such as a police academy.
3. Minimum of 5 years experience in civilian law enforcement.
4.Applicants must become CTE credentialed.
5.Computer literacy and the ability to use computer technology in classroom-lab instruction.
5.Experience using varied instructional delivery methods, including lecture, group work, real world activities, and critical thinking activities.
6.Demonstrated ability and willingness to work as a team member as exhibited by a genuine spirit of cooperation and flexibility.

Faculty Credentials:
Minimum Qualifications:
1.Faculty must hold a career and technical education credential in the discipline in which they teach as required by the Colorado State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education. Criteria for the credentials vary slightly by discipline. Permanent forbearance of career and technical education experience or other deficiencies related to career and technical education credential requirements may be granted only by the CCCS Credentialing Oversight Committee. For more information on required credentials, contact the Career and Technical Education Director or review the criteria at http://www.coloradostateplan.com. (Note: 4,000 hours of related work experience may be used for career and technical education credentialing requirements).

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice or a related field or a Master’s Degree with a minimum of 18 credit hours in Criminal Justice.
