Salary: Starting salary range of $51,289 - $56,418 is based on the Lee College Administrative/Administrative Support Salary Scale, C51. Placement on scale is commensurate with education and experience.

Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Perkins Grant, Project Coordinator manages the Carl D. Perkins Grant, which aims to increase the retention and completion rates of career and technical education students and strengthen technical programs at Lee College. The Perkins Grant, Project Coordinator is responsible for writing and managing the grant to meet target measures and deliverables in accordance with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), federal regulations, and Lee College policies and procedures. In addition, this position is responsible for advising students in Industrial Studies at the McNair Campus.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Administer project budget according to THECB regulations and Lee College policies and procedures, which include: predictive budget analysis, efficient resource allocations, and balancing all projects within scope of activities.
  • Develop, implement, and manage internal project processes to ensure compliance with relevant College and grant-related rules and regulations (i.e., eligibility, purchasing, equipment inventory, closing documents, and external contract vendors).
  • Coordinate with other programs and activities in the office of Retention and Transition Services.
  • Work with all internal offices and external partners as necessary to ensure compliance with grant requirements.
  • Ensure grant compliance of grant funded staff.
  • Supervise and evaluate performance of project staff members.
  • Supervise and evaluate attainment of target measures and core indicators as specified in the Perkins Grant.
  • Assess and prioritize technical department/division needs and allocate grant funding accordingly.
  • Record, compile, assess, and accurately report data.
  • Prepare and submit amendments to THECB as appropriate.
  • Complete and submit RFA bi-annual and final reports per the THECB deadlines for submission.
  • Initiate and maintain contact with those attending professional development and obtaining equipment.
  • Act as a liaison between technical instructional programs, Dean of Applied Sciences, Student Affairs, industry partners, academic advising, and administrators.
  • Deliver and organize professional development activities for faculty and staff.
  • Serve as Technical Advisor for Industrial Studies students.
  • Build and maintain key relationships with college staff/instructors and community resources.
  • Work with the college community, instructors, and key personnel to keep project on track and meeting its deliverables.
Additional duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited:
  • Act as a liaison to one (1) or more Lee College departments and/or divisions.
  • Participate on various campus committees (e.g., hiring, academic, distance education, etc.).
  • Perform other duties as assigned as it pertains to technical students and faculty.
  • Participate in professional development activities and training as required.
  • Manage federal and state grant compliance.
  • Travel as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Excellent benefits accrue with this full-time position. This is a grant-funded position. Continuation of the position is based on the continuation of the grant and satisfactory job performance. This is a security sensitive position.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s (or higher) degree
  • At least two (2) years of related work experience in grant management/administration and budgeting/fiscal management
  • Knowledge of state, federal, and/or local funding guidelines
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships and partnerships, both internal and external
  • Impeccable reputation with regard to ethics and integrity
  • Exceptional time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Positive attitude about work, ability to motivate, and empower employees
  • Proficiency working in Microsoft Office Suite and other applicable software, and the ability to successfully navigate the Internet
  • Must be friendly, outgoing, energetic, along with exceptional customer service abilities
  • Must be dependable and demonstrate initiative
  • Solid organizational, time management, and filing skills
  • Detail oriented, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends, based on needs of the McNair Center and its students


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in higher education, especially regarding issues related to student persistence and completion, and serving economically disadvantaged students
  • Perkins Grant experience
  • Experience using PeopleSoft
