Founding Program Director, Doctor of Physical Therapy

Seton Hill University, in partnership with the national search firm, Scott Healy & Associates, invites applications and nominations for the position of Founding Director of the Doctorate of Physical Therapy Program. Reporting to the Dean of the School of Natural and Health Sciences, the Founding Program Director is responsible for the overall planning, direction, and management of the DPT program.  The Director is expected to develop a DPT program that is consistent with the University mission and meets all of the requirements of the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). The Director will be responsible for curriculum development, facility planning, the writing and submission of all program authorization documentation to CAPTE and will ensure that the program meets all of the CAPTE accreditation standards and deadlines.  The Director provides visionary leadership for establishing and maintaining the DPT program, fostering excellence and identifying strategic opportunities for program growth and development.

The Founding Program Director will serve as the strategic academic and operational leader of the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program by providing leadership for the faculty in terms of program development, accreditation self-study, curriculum, administration, teaching, research, and service. The specific duties of the Director include, but are not limited to:

• Provide direct oversight for all academic and administrative matters concerning the development of the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program.
• Lead the faculty and development team in strategic planning and monitor the process to further the program's mission in teaching, research, service, and patient care.
• Supervise the process of seeking, achieving, and maintaining all necessary CAPTE program accreditation.
• Ensure that the Physical Therapy faculty is involved with research and scholarly activity.
• Ensure that the Physical Therapy facility continues to meet the educational and functional needs of the faculty, students, and staff.

 
The Program Director will work collaboratively with an inter-professional team in the development of Seton Hill’s health science programs. The Program Director is also responsible for attaining and maintaining CAPTE accreditation and will pursue academic excellence within the program by providing program leadership, promoting the program and enhancing its visibility, assisting with recruiting and retaining students, and managing the day-to-day logistics of the program. The Program Director is responsible for the continuous evaluation of faculty and completing a written evaluation of each faculty member on a regular basis.

Qualifications

The position is a full-time, 12-month position with an excellent benefits package. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications:

• An academic terminal degree in Physical Therapy or related field (i.e., PhD, EdD, or equivalent) 
• A license to practice physical therapy in Pennsylvania (or ability to obtain)
• Experience preparing for, obtaining and maintaining CAPTE accreditation
• Administrative experience (including program planning and implementation, personnel management, evaluation and budgeting)
• A record of scholarship and history of teaching and service
• 6 years of full-time higher education experience and a minimum of 3 years full-time experience in a physical therapist education program
• Demonstrated effective and successful experiences of establishing relationships and positive communications across multiple dimensions of diversity including, but not limited to race, gender, physical limitations, class or religious perspectives
