Job Details
ECU Physicians is the multispecialty group practice of the Brody School of Medicine. With more than 430 providers and over 700,000 patient visits per year, this complex organization faces increasing challenges for its robust clinical informatics system. The Office of Clinical Informatics was formed to provide oversight of all clinical applications and clinical quality initiatives throughout ECU Physicians. Quality responsibilities are carried out directly or through collaboration with the Quality Committee, ECUP leadership, faculty and staff in each clinical department. Quality initiatives include, but are not limited to: Meaningful Use, Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS), Accountable Care Organization (ACO), Merit Based Incentive Programs (MIPS), Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS), National Committee for Quality Assessment (NCQA) recognition programs, Heart Health Now, and the MyChart patient portal. In addition clinical applications include the use of Tele health/Telemedicine.
Job DutiesAnticipated Vacancy*************
Report Analysis
Collects and analyzes data and creates report summaries to monitor and track physician and organizational performance for established clinical and financial benchmarks.
Provides data expertise and analytic support for Meaningful Use, Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS), Accountable Care Organization (ACO), Merit Based Incentive Programs (MIPS), Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS), National Committee for Quality Assessment (NCQA) recognition programs, Heart Health Now, the MyChart patient portal and Tele health applications.
Extracts data to create reports and analyze data from platforms such as EPIC’s electronic health record, Care Evolution, and payer applications systems such as Blue Cross Blue Shield’s quality database.
Coordinates with appropriate ECU and Vidant Information System resources to send and receive data files from payers and vendors such as Blue Cross Blue Shield and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS).
Provides requested data analysis and reports to the Office of Clinical IT quality team members and ECU leadership as requested to identify areas of opportunity and promote information sharing, resulting in improved quality performance.
Project Management
Provides project management for specific report development, trend analysis, identification of key and /or strategic opportunities and profitability analysis for contract performance.
Manages timelines and resources that allow ECUP to meet the deadlines for data submission on quality initiatives which directly impacts financial incentives and/or adjustments.
Researches industry trends and benchmarks for the information needs of ECUPs quality programs and services.
Serves as a primary support for the office of clinical IT to provide data, dashboards, reports and analysis and recommendations to ECU leadership.
Identifies and implements new reporting technologies and processes.
Data Validation
Validates quality reports to ensure quality data is accurate and meets the build specifications for existing and new quality programs prior to data analysis being released to ECUP.
Coordinates with data sources to review errors, identity corrective actions, and take action to ensure data accuracy.
Performs chart abstraction and analysis of data with supporting documentation for the purpose of data submission to payers and quality program administrators.
Organizes and supervises student intern assistance with chart abstraction for quality program reporting.
Communication
Develops improved methods for data dissemination to ECUP department.
Anticipates, assesses and analyzes the needs of the Office of Clinical IT quality team and develops effective and appropriate reporting solutions.
Provides well written and effective professional documentation to support quality initiatives.
Actively participates in Office of Clinical IT quality team meetings with updates on work status and suggestions for improvement opportunities.
Prepares presentations for ECUP meetings and presents data to ECU leadership as needed.
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
