The Undergraduate Admissions Office is responsible for identifying, attracting and enrolling new undergraduate students, including new transfer students, in sufficient numbers to meet the University’s enrollment goals. The office processes over 5,000 transfer applications annually and in order to develop an applicant relationship with these individuals and our primary sending institutions (NC Community Colleges), the office is involved in many public relations activities which generate a large number of inquiries for additional information and for applications. The Admissions Office’s activities are performed by a staff which includes a substantial operations/processing staff, receptionists/admin assistants, as well as counselors, assistant directors, associate directors, senior associate directors, and a director.

Job Duties

The Transfer Coach will:

-Provide academic advising knowledge and information on ECU’s degree programs as well as the transfer admission process to students interested in transferring to East Carolina University (ECU) with the intention of completing a baccalaureate degree.

-Maintain knowledge of undergraduate admissions policies, transfer articulation agreements such as the NC Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (“CAA”), course equivalency tables, bilateral agreements specific to certain academic programs, transfer resources, requirements and regulations.

-Participate in the Advising Collaborative and any other related trainings

-Collaborate and connect as needed with other campus partners that work with transfer students such as program specific academic advisors/majors, undergraduate degree program directors/faculty, Registrar staff, etc.

-Provide initial and ongoing pre-admission and supplemental advising to NC Community College System prospective students seeking to transfer to ECU.

-Pre-advising includes providing unofficial credit evaluations, information regarding ECU’s nearly 100 degree options, offering general course recommendations for students enrolled in the NC Community College System, utilizing ECU’s Baccalaureate Degree Plans and course equivalency tables in addition to guiding students through the application process and enrollment steps.

-Provide information in general about financial aid and micro-scholarship opportunities.

-Participate and assist with recruitment and admission programs (i.e. Open House, Admitted Student Day).
-Reports information related to the outcomes of recruitment initiatives to include budgetary impact and enrollment funnel data.

-Provides information sessions in the community colleges and participates in college fairs, community programs, and other special events.
- Serve as one of the points-of-contact between ECU and the NC Community College System regarding transfer admissions and collaborate programs such as Pirate Promise.

-Assists in the development, maintenance and execution of the office’s communication plan (i.e. text and email campaigns) for prospective and admitted students, online resources for internal and external constituents and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions handbook.

-Participates in regular professional development and training initiatives or opportunities related to the Recruiter and Banner systems through which information is stored and managed.

-Represents the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at university and community college meetings and committees, where appropriate.

-Travel to North Carolina Community Colleges as well as targeted out-of-state community colleges.

-Other duties as assigned by the Associate Director for Transfer Recruitment or the Director of Admissions.

Minimum Education/Experience

The minimum requirement for this position is a baccalaureate degree from an accredited four-year college or university and one year of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Good communication, organization and interpersonal skills are imperative for this position.
