To ensure high quality Fire Protection services are provided to the College of William and Mary community.

Required Qualifications

Good to excellent verbal and written communication skills.working knowledge of MS Office Suite, escpecially MS Word and Excel word processing and database computer programs skills.
Have working knowledge of operations and maintenance for all types of fire sprinkler systems, and capable of minor repairs to various systems.
Have working knowledge of fire alarm systems, especially Simplex-Grinnell.
Posses a valid drivers license.
Be knowledgeable of basic hazardous material response procedures.
Have basic working knowledge of kitchen and clean agent fire suppression systems.
Ability to apply judgement, knowledge, training and experience to assess and determine compliance, collect and review data, and determine appropriate course of action.
Uses various instruments, methods and processes requiring some analytical skill and judgment.
Ability to apply complex standards to situations and present suggested course of action.
High school graduate or equivalent is required.
Significant demonstrated experience in fire protection systems maintenance (fire sprinkler/ suppression systems),
Knowledge of common maintenance issues and requirements of various fire sprinkler and alarm systems.
Shall have, or have the experience to qualify as, a Virginia state certified fire protection systems inspector

Preferred Qualifications

Any NICET training a plus.

Conditions of Employment:

This position is subject to overtime and schedule changes and may be required to work shifts during weekends, holidays, and special events. Incumbent will be required to participate in the Facilities Management “on-call” program. This position has been designated as essential to the operation of the department, will require reporting to work when the College is officially closed, and is subject to overtime.
