Duties/Responsibilities:

Assisting cooks and other kitchen personnel in such tasks as cleaning and paring vegetables, washing dishes, serving from a serving line, cleaning tables, and sweeping floors. Responsible not only for neatness, and cleanliness in preparing, handling, and serving food, but for serving patrons in a pleasant and courteous manner. Care and use of food service equipment including meat slicer, mixing machine, steam cookers and beverage machines.

Receives cash or meal ticket receipts in payment of bills, purchases, admission to events or other services. Verifies negotiability and cashes checks, and processes refunds for returned items. Checks food trays and determines food costs. Balances cash on hand against receipts, may prepare deposits, and reconcile cash statements.

Position Summary:

This is general work preparing and serving food as well as clerical work requiring processing financial transactions and handling cash and payment cards.
Rapid and accurate completion of transactions necessary to receiving and disbursing cash. Emphasis is placed on accuracy in handling cash as well as preparation and serving food. Accuracy of work is verified through the comparison of cash with receipt stubs, cash register receipts, or other controls. Work is performed according to established and well defined procedures.
Duties include maintaining high standards of cleanliness and for assuring that patrons are served in a pleasant and courteous manner. Verifies negotiability and cashes checks, and processes refunds for returned items. Checks food trays and determines food cost. Balances cash on hand against receipts, may prepare deposits, and reconcile cash statements. Assignments are received in the form of specific oral and written instructions and are reviewed by inspection and observation of results obtained.

Some food experience preferred, but not required.

Physical Demands:

Perform physical activity; move loads up to 50 lbs, unloading and stocking products; perform push/pull activity with products weighing up to 30 lbs; perform duties with repetitive motion of wrists, arm, and shoulder, possess hand and finger coordination; reach, climb, balance, crouch, twist, crawl, and kneel; and work in noisy, hot/cold environments with chemicals, cleaning equipment, dust, fumes, and odors. Work long hours standing. Handle all types of foods.
