Miami University’s office of communications and marketing is seeking an Assistant Director of Digital Marketing and Social Media to provide both strategic planning and tactical implementation to advance the University’s social media presence across multiple platforms. Reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing, this very dynamic and visible position is integral to the communications team.

POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Marketing and in collaboration with the Vice President for Marketing and Communications, the Assistant Director of Digital Marketing and Social Media will be responsible for day-to-day management and strategic advancement and implementation of our digital marketing plan. Success in this position requires the ability to marry creativity with science and data to interpret results, inform new and in-place strategies, and recommend courses of action.

The Assistant Director of Digital Marketing and Social Media develops, implements, tracks, and optimizes our digital marketing campaigns and related tools across all digital channels. The Assistant Director oversees all social media platforms, and paid search and display marketing, along with supervision of the Social Media Manager.

This is a high-impact role that works closely with the Vice President of Marketing and Communications, the Senior Director of Marketing, Project Managers, Creative Services team and Admissions teams developing and implementing strategies to drive brand visibility and traffic to the website, and to increase University event awareness and prospective student inquiries toward the University's growth initiatives.

This highly organized, detail-oriented, creative individual must have knowledge of all aspects of various digital advertising platforms, such as Google Ads, paid search (PPC) and display, and for the major social media channels and platforms, and how to leverage digital media assets including online video, mobile ads, and email marketing.

Duties/Physical Demands:
  • Maintain a deep understanding of University goals and marketing objectives, translating them into digital objectives/strategies
  • Oversee planning of digital marketing campaigns, with focus on DTAs, retargeting advertising, IP targeted advertising, and social media advertising
  • Lead and monitor the day-to-day digital marketing activities, including execution of all online media plans assigned
  • Develop and maintain keyword lists in collaboration with academic departments and University Communications and Marketing team
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy for the University, as well as for the University President’s social media outlets
  • Monitor, assess and configure analytics features such as goals, advanced segments, custom dashboards and custom reports
  • Work with the analytics manager to develop monthly reports for all campaigns and social media outlets
  • Stay updated on new digital innovations, particularly in higher education, and their impact on graduate and undergraduate recruitment
  • Brainstorm new and creative growth strategies
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and provide thought leadership and perspective for adoption where appropriate
  • Manage workflows, systems, and processes of the University's social media presence
  • Manage and grow all University social media accounts
  • Lead the University’s Communicators Forum Social Media subgroup
Minimum Qualifications:
  • BA in marketing, communications or related and a minimum 3 years of proven digital marketing working experience
  • Experience in setting up and optimizing digital advertising campaigns
  • Experience in optimizing landing pages and user funnels
  • Solid knowledge and experience with social media advertising
  • Comfort with Adobe Creative Suite tools such as InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator
  • Highly creative with experience in identifying target audiences and devising digital campaigns that engage, inform and motivate
  • Solid knowledge of website analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics)
  • Ability to work independently on all aspects of position, including ability to prioritize workflow to meet critical deadlines while paying attention to important detail and uphold a can-do attitude at all times
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proven results executing social media marketing campaigns
  • Ability to plan, buy, and track ad campaigns for multiple clients
  • Expert-level experience with online media platforms such as AdWords, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.
  • Experience buying across multiple digital media channels: Paid Search, Mobile, Paid Social, and Display Advertising
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work independently and/or in a team environment
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines with great attention to detail
